A full-day trip to Tsavo East National Park is an incredible opportunity to explore one of Kenya’s largest and oldest national parks. Known for its vast landscapes, rich wildlife, and diverse ecosystems, Tsavo East offers a quintessential safari experience. Located about 3 to 4 hours from Mombasa, it is famous for its red elephants, vast plains, and iconic savannahs.

Your Safari Starts: A Journey through Kenya’s Wilderness

As your safari begins, you’re welcomed by the fresh morning air, the sounds of birds and distant wildlife, and the sight of a vast African landscape stretching before you.

Spend an exciting day visiting the “Red Elephants” in Tsavo East National Park, the largest national park of Kenya! Tsavo East N.P. – Lion Hill Camp (L) In the early morning we will pick you up in your hotel on the coast and then drive within about Three hours on the Nairobi Mombasa highway, passing the Buchuma entrance gate, to Tsavo East National Park, home of the “Red Elephants”. We start off with a safari to the south of the park at Aruba Dam, watching zebras, buffaloes, various species of gazelles, waterbucks and herds of elephants. Arriving at Aruba Dam you can observe hippos and many other animals drinking. There is also various bird species, e.g. hornbill, eagles, kingfishers, weaver birds, giant bustards, storks, marabous etc. The tour continues to the Lion Camp Hill where you enjoy your lunch while viewing Tsavo East N.P. from the highest lookout point (662m). After a short rest we go for a safari to the Dida Plains to enrouteto Mombasa, Lions and Leopards favour the comfortably warm high rock as an ideal viewpoint for hunting. In the sunset we leave the park and drive back to your hotel, arriving there in the late evening.

Dry Season (June to October) – Best Time for Wildlife Viewing

3. Long Rainy Season (March to May) – Low Season

• Weather: This is the wettest period in Kenya, with frequent and intense rains, making some roads difficult to travel, especially in remote areas.
• Wildlife Viewing: The rain can create a more challenging safari experience as animals tend to spread out more and are harder to spot. However, birdwatching is excellent during this time as many migratory birds are in Kenya.
